Quantity
The classic market eggplant — deep purple-black, one to three pounds each, four or five fruits to a plant. Flesh is creamy and mild with few seeds when picked before the skin dulls. Loves heat and resents cold soil, so wait until nights are reliably warm before setting plants out. Harvest with pruners; the calyx has spines and the stems do not snap cleanly.
